Prior to attending your self-promotion workshop, I had no real plan of action for my art career. I was muddling through this new world of the “art community” with no real idea of how to reach my goals. In fact I had never really identified what my art career goals were. After the workshop I created specific goals and then a plan of action. Periodically I review my notes from the workshop and adjust my plan as needed. Three years ago I attended—by chance—one of your workshops in Iowa. I had a successful career in education but had always dreamed of becoming an artist. That workshop helped me understand the art business in general, but it also helped me focus on what I needed to do first. I worked diligently on developing a style, wrote an artist statement and biography, and began building a resume. Within a year and a half I was in two group exhibitions, participated in my first art festival (and received 2nd place), and now have gallery representation in two different cities.
